SQL queries:

During the second project phase, I strategically utilized the CRM dataset, thoughtfully provided by Microsoft, as the cornerstone of our analytical efforts. This dataset served as a rich source of data for exploration. Leveraging my expertise in database management, I meticulously collected and refined this dataset using SQL Server Management Studio.
To illustrate, here are some pivotal SQL queries that played a central role in our data collection and preparation:

Data Extraction:
I crafted SQL queries to extract relevant information from the CRM dataset.

Data Transformation:
I applied SQL transformations to aggregate and format the data.

Data Joining:
I utilized SQL joins to merge data from different tables.

This project phase underscored my proficiency in database management, SQL query development, and data preparation. These skills were instrumental in transforming raw data into the foundation for our successful sales analysis dashboard, facilitating actionable insights.

c.customerkey AS [CustomerKey],
-- customerkey to connect this dimensional table with the fact table
-- Utilizing the sequared brackets to make spacing with names in some of columns names
c.firstname + ' ' + c.lastname AS [Full Name],
[MaritalStatus],
CASE c.gender WHEN 'M' THEN 'MALE' WHEN 'F' THEN 'Female' END AS Gender,
-- Utilizing CASE statement to convert the decoded values into readable & Understandable values
-- by the stakeholders
-- [YearlyIncome],
-- [NumberChildrenAtHome],
-- [EnglishEducation],
-- [EnglishOccupation],
-- CASE c.HouseOwnerFlag WHEN 1 THEN 'Owner' WHEN 0 THEN 'Not Owner' END AS HomeOwner,
-- Utilizing Case Statement to show the decoded values of HouseOwnerFlag into readable values
-- [NumberCarsOwned],
[AddressLine1] AS Address,
c.datefirstpurchase AS DateFirstPurchase,
-- Rename the table name
g.city AS [CustomerCity] -- To study the active area and which city is the most purchase by joing
both tables
-- DimCustomer & DimGeography using the gommon key GeographyKey
FROM
[dbo].[DimCustomer] AS c -- Rename the table by giving it an alias name (c)
LEFT JOIN dbo.DimGeography AS g ON g.GeographyKey = c.GeographyKey -- Joining statement

LEFT JOIN dbo.DimProductSubcategory AS ps
ON ps.ProductSubcategoryKey = p.ProductSubcategoryKey
-- To get ProductCategoryKey I used:
-- Joining DimProductSubcategory with DimProductCategory using LEFT JOIN function
LEFT JOIN dbo.DimProductCategory AS pc
ON ps.ProductCategoryKey = pc.ProductCategoryKey
-- Order the Product table ( based on ProductKey) using ORDER BY function:
ORDER BY p.ProductKey

Creating Fact Table for Business Measurement

-- Creating Fact table
/** Fact table is created based on the business process and the numeric measure answer
What are we looking to measure from these measure OR What we want to find questions
Each business process needs specific fact table
**/
/** I kept the keys that are related to the dimension tables in DW
Other keys are not required so I removed them from the DW to reduc the size and
optimize the query performance
**/
/** -----IMPOTANT NOTE-----
Since the business requirements need to look at five years before agianst the budget
so I filtered out the result to show only the last five years data by using :
GETDATE() function --- to show todays date
then I substracted the recored's date from today's date
I got the record's date by grapping the the first four digits of the OrdreDateKey attribute
**/
use [AdventureWorksDW2019];
SELECT
[ProductKey],
[OrderDateKey],
[DueDateKey],
[ShipDateKey],
[CustomerKey],
[SalesOrderNumber],
[SalesAmount]
FROM [dbo].[FactInternetSales]
-- Filtering out the data according to the business requirements using GETDATE(), YEAR(), & LEFT()
Functions:
WHERE LEFT(OrderDateKey, 4) >= YEAR(GETDATE()) - 4
-- Ordering the resulted table by OrderDateKey (Ascending)
ORDER BY OrderDateKey ASC

Data Modeling and Relationship Establishment:
